Emerald News:-New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri held a meeting with Meg O’Neill, CEO of global energy major bp, Kartikeya Dube, Chairman of bp India, and the company’s senior leadership to discuss strategic cooperation and investment opportunities across India’s energy sector.
Sharing details of the meeting, Puri highlighted bp’s extensive engagement with India across the energy value chain, including its active participation in hydrocarbon exploration under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) Round-10.The minister also underlined the growing partnership between Indian public sector undertakings (PSUs) and bp. Indian PSUs have partnered with the company for exploration and production (E&P) investments in international markets. Their cooperation is now expanding into key domestic sectors, including fuel retail, natural gas and compressed biogas.
Puri noted that these partnerships are significant for India’s broader efforts to strengthen energy security under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Greater cooperation across conventional and emerging energy sectors is expected to support the country’s evolving energy requirements.A key highlight of the meeting was the exchange of a Framework for Strategic Cooperation Document between bp and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), India’s energy Maharatna public sector undertaking.
The development underscores the importance of strategic partnerships between global energy companies and Indian public sector enterprises in advancing exploration, investment and cooperation across the energy value chain.
As India continues to pursue its energy security objectives, collaboration in hydrocarbons, natural gas, retail and compressed biogas remains an important part of the country’s evolving energy landscape.
