Emerald News:- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised concerns over continued Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, saying that Russian Shahed drones and missiles are targeting even the electrical equipment essential for the functioning of the country’s nuclear power plants.
Addressing the 30th Ibero-American Summit, Zelenskyy stated that every power plant in Ukraine has been damaged in some way by Russian attacks, highlighting the urgent need to strengthen the country’s energy infrastructure and maintain electricity supplies.
He said Ukraine urgently needs transformers, power cables, modern electrical equipment, and generators powered by both diesel and gas.
Seeking international cooperation, Zelenskyy appealed to companies in Spain and Latin America to help supply the required equipment. He specifically called for transformers from Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia; power cables from Chile; and electrical equipment, cables, and generators from Spain.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine needs equipment compatible with its existing power grid and stressed that supplies must reach the country as quickly as possible.
He urged the participating countries to facilitate direct cooperation between Ukrainian authorities and their companies to accelerate the delivery of essential energy equipment.
Zelenskyy’s appeal highlights Ukraine’s urgent efforts to protect its energy security amid continued Russian attacks and the growing need for international support.
