Delhi University Organises Special Swachhata Campaign Under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ 2026

New Delhi: The University of Delhi organised a special cleanliness drive on October 1 as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026, being observed from September 17 to October 17 under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.”
As part of the nationwide initiative “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath,” the campaign was flagged off at 8:00 AM by Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta.
The campaign witnessed active participation from Shri Surya Prakash Khatri, MLA, Timarpur Assembly Constituency; Shri Raja Iqbal Singh, former Mayor, MCD; Prof. Rajni Abbi, Director, South Campus; Prof. Payal Mago, Director, Campus of Open Learning; Prof. K.P. Singh, Nodal Officer, Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, University of Delhi; and Ms. Shweta Nagarkoti, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North Zone, MCD. Members of the university fraternity, students and safai karamcharis also participated enthusiastically in the drive.
The cleanliness campaign began from the roundabout near Gwyer Hall, following which the participants proceeded towards the PG Men’s Hostel and Gate No. 1 of the University. The campaign culminated at Kamla Nehru Ridge (Bonta) at around 9:00 AM.
The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, public participation and awareness among students, staff and the wider community, reinforcing the message of collective responsibility towards building a cleaner and developed India.
